![]() Dr. KC Nayfield D.V.M. Dr. K.C. Nayfield assumed ownership and opened the doors of Midway Animal Hospital on July 1, 1982. He had no employees. His mother Dr. Ruth answered the phones and his father Dr. Chet assisted with patients and in surgery. The building was modest with no X-Ray or gas anesthesia. He hired his first employee two weeks later. The practice started to grow and Dr. Mark Lowe joined him in 1984. The original building expanded in 1986. When the practice out grew the expansion, Dr. Nayfield designed and built the current hospital which opened its doors in 1998. At its peak the business employed 7 veterinarians and 35 other persons performing the jobs of receptionists, veterinary technicians and animal technicians. The animal hospital to date is one of the most modern, well-equipped facilities on the Nature Coast. The animal hospital offers digital radiography, laser surgery, radio surgery, endoscopy, modern anesthesia with complete patient monitoring, an intensive care unit, in house blood CBC and panel machine, as well as a complete dental care machine with digital dental radiography.
His special interest is in orthopedics and particularly canine knee surgeries although he fixes broken bones and does a variety of soft tissue surgeries usually only performed at the University or specialty practices.
